“The Goldenloch”
29-August-2021, Fishery Blog, Week 35.
Well it’s been a long time since we had an algae attack, at the moment it’s pretty much moving where ever the wind takes it {that’s when there is a breeze, which has been pretty much none existent for the last week}, fish are being caught, but the blistering sun is putting them down into the loch floor, wishing I had kept more weed in the loch, but hey it’s a clever guy that gets it right all the time, the algae is a big patch about the size of a football pitch, Malcolm Brown Dundee, fishing after a week recuperating from a sore hip, really finds the metal posts at the jetty invaluable for getting out and in the boats, he had a good days fishing with two cracking rainbows and a good few offers, Colin Hay, Kirkcaldy who has been coming in the evening, has been getting some real sport fishing, with fish offers and follows he uses Muddlers and gets a rewarding evenings fishing, rising fish, George Duff, bring me some tomatoes, Thankyou, had 6 all after 4 hours of nothing, S Fenton returning after a long break had 9, John Bowman having a few good trips 4 on his last, I am a member of the Pentland Hills Users Group which is an excellent idea and helps look after the terrain and facilities of the Pentland Hills, the recent upsurge and interest in the countryside may be great, but for people like me it is also disturbing, there is a water neighbouring here that is very dangerous, and I mean it is bad, very deep and surrounded with lilies and other floating weeds, anyone swimming in it will find it extremely difficult to get out, yet the public think they have the god given right to go swimming in it ( Outdoor Access Code ) I am not talking about some he man/woman type but a spindly couple, only persuaded not to go in swimming, not because of the dangerous surroundings, but by the seriously large leeches and other biting insects that are associated with the wild nature of the countryside
Fly Fishing is a Pastime, it is not only relaxing, but also rewarding, both mentally and physically, come to the “Goldenloch” enjoy your Hobby to the max, no stress, only tranquil surroundings abundant wildlife, great fish, Brown, Blues and Rainbows, you will not be disappointed.
