Week ending 05/nov/07 goldenloch
At the Goldenloch last week we saw a tremendous drop in temperature with a cold east wind this happened on Wednesday and up till then I think it would be pretty fair to say that the fishing was easy, two weekends ago saw nearly every angler get his or her maximum limit, however with the cold wind that appeared everything changed and this past weekend saw anglers having to think hard about where the fish were and how to best tackle up to get them, what seems to have happened is that the fish in the mornings congregate at the far end of the loch and then slowly work their way down arriving at the jetty end at say noon. Saturday saw everyone on boats catch fish quite quickly and get good results using floating lines and small flies, however the boys on the banks were the lads using lures with mixed results. Sunday was almost a carbon copy of the day before except that the loch was flat calm, the first lads of were Billy Harris Cupar after catching 4 keeping 3 for 6 lbs followed by Stewart Fenton and Chick Mackenzie they had caught 8 between them, Chick returning his 6, The fishing definitely got a lot easier as the day progressed and late arrivals Big Jock McLelland and son John reaped the benefit, with the big man catching two just of the boat jetty and John Catching 4 all returned, Jim Wilson Dalgety Bay, arrived an hour before dark when the temperature had really dropped and caught 2 from the bank Jim reported that as the water went flat calm, loads of fish could be seen coming in really close to the shore line, he had loads of offers and bumps before getting the right fly and then as it became black dark the fish started to take.
