Week ending 01/oct/07 goldenloch
This past summer season at the Goldenloch has been pretty successful and on digesting the results it transpires that the average catch recorded has been 2.3 fish per angler not bad considering the type of year its been, we have had our fair share of problems starting with the brown algae and then the constant wind that never seemed to give up however even during that period anglers very quickly adapted to the conditions and learnt how to catch the fish, the season in general has been a strange one with a very limited amount of flies hatching, only on very still nights and sometimes very late the loch would burst into life but conversely we have never seen as much insect life in the water and even now with the temperatures falling the insect life is massive and attracts the fish to the margins, bank anglers at the Goldenloch have had probably their best season ever with many lads catching their limits often in just a few hours, these last few weeks have been excellent and most anglers have had their best fishing of the season, sometimes it just pays dividends to stick with the methods best suited and that rung true for most of the anglers this past weekend, D Graham,. Kirkcaldy 3 for 6lbs using a white cat and Alex Davidson Bankfoot, 5 years old 1 for 2lbs, D Cameron, Bankfoot, 7 C and R using dry flies, S and D Cunningham on a day ticket had 4 each returning 3 each using a mixture of wet and dries, Stewart Fenton Markinch had 9 all returned using dries and hoppers, and Mr Mann Bankfoot 4 fish 3 returned using nymphs.
