“The Goldenloch”
December-05-2020-Week-48
For some the fishing has been a lot better, we haven’t stocked for a while (3 weeks since the last one), it’s definitely not a shortage of fish that is the problem, it’s because the fish that’s in the water are 100% acclimatised to the conditions, but the anglers conditions have been atrocious and that doesn’t help matters, some lads getting good results though Brian Kemp, Kirkcaldy, spending most of the day trying to get a good wildlife picture of young swans still learning to fly, managed to catch 3, J souter, Auchtermuchty, from the bank had 1 on a pink blood worm, Mike Farrell, Letham, 2 from the bank using bloodworms, next day again J Souter this time 2, using a bloodworm and a shrimp, but to be honest the weather this past week wasn’t that great, the thing about going fishing at this time of year is its 100% self-pleasure, its about getting out and relaxing in a situation that offer peace and total mind relaxation, yep its easy to go to some fisheries and catch 10 or more stockies but if you get 3 brown trout’s and 1 challenging rainbow, these in all areas of the loch, it has got to have a major satisfaction written all over it, that was Neil Kelly’s, Saline bag today, its been a few years since Neil was last here, he is a total enthusiast, who enjoys his fishing to the Max, it was nice to catch up with him and his adventures, also out today was Kristian Burns, fishing under instruction from Stevie F who has many years’ experience, not out long as the last thing you want to do with a young angler at this time of year is get them to cold, but 2 were caught by Kristian, all on his own, another rising talented angler in the making, Friday night saw a colossal amount of rain / water fall and drain into the loch, slightly colouring the water at one end, but it didn’t stop some from having a great days fishing, after pumping a record amount of water out the boats, James and Brian Hardy ventured up to the far end where the water was clear and had 11 fish between them, plus as many if not more lost, using crunchers and Diawl Bach’s both said it was there best days fishing in 2020, accompanied by some cormorants, which as they said were terrorising the fish.
