Week ending 09/july/07 goldenloch
This past week has seen probably some of the best fishing days ever at the Goldenloch and one or two of the hardest, Sundays fishing was absolutely amazing, with every angler commenting that the fish were just doing everything right to create a very special day for their memories, from Monday until Thursday catches were relatively normal and anglers were enjoying catching fish on a variety of flies from diawl bachs, hares ears to consett budgies mostly however the fish seemed to come from the far end and the centre of the loch, Friday saw a day of constant heavy rain and the loch temperature drop some three degrees, with the discovery angling club here for a Barbie and fishing, it didn’t look like it was going to be very nice night for fishing, however the skies cleared and everyone caught fish, except probably the clubs most experienced angler who not only blanked but broke his rod as well, not a happy chappy, however all had mucho fun and left happy, Saturday saw a very odd day with a few lads on early doors and the fish not playing, however the wind was blowing cold from the east and very variable, the anglers were all complaining that there wasn’t any fish in the loch as none could be seen, so much so that two lads came off the loch in disgust, and left after never touching a fish, commenting that they would never be back, boy o boy try to tell them other wise, its not worth the hassle, with that resting in your mind you wonder what the next day will bring and talk about a complete turn around, Sunday was absolutely amazing the fish just wanted to play and boy did they, they did everything textbook except get caught unless you had one particular fly, which was a march brown, they chased, pounced, swamped, nibbled, turned, anglers flies, most of these rising fish were feeding just under the surface and were just of the grass bank shore, anglers were using every dry fly in their boxes and getting offers, fish on and fish off at nearly every cast by 7.30pm the loch was flat calm and there were hundreds of rising fish everywhere, the loch was literally boiling with trout, the lad with the best results at this time was getting the fish using a viva and commented that this was probably the most amazing day he had in a long time, at this point you wish the lads from the day before could see what was happening now, making it all worthwhile was the comments of pleasure from the five lads that left, who really enjoyed their day and went home happy albeit a bit late as trying to get them of the loch wasn’t easy.
