“The Goldenloch”
June-22nd-2020-Week-24- Eased Lockdown Week-13
At the “Goldenloch” just now the evening rise is outstanding, awesome, starts about 8.30 and continues till late, dry flies a must, early morning can be just as good, but it is early approx. 5/6am the rest of the day for some is superb, some guys regularly catching 10 / 15 fish, most catching 3 /4, on the really sweltering hot days a few with zero, the weed that we have in the loch, is pretty much confined to the far end, however for some reason this year there is a clear area around it, this weed will be tackled when I know what the weather is going to do, at the moment this weed is absorbing all the Nitrogen and Phosphate in the water, hence the reason the fishing is so good, take out the weed and we will have Algae, it’s the same as a domestic fish tank, the condition and fight from the fish is as one would expect, perhaps slightly better due to them having had an extended break, a bit of pressure from some anglers wanting a monthly Catch and Release ticket that are on offer at other fisheries, I will trial this as from the 1st of July, and see how it goes, so £25 buys a month pass on week days and nights, Bank only, boat will be an extra £5, it is 100% catch and release, Tickets must be bought first week of each Month, number of tickets will be limited, as too much C & R can be detrimental in anglers ability to catch fish. To be honest– my ticket system at the moment is a much better buy, purchase 5 all day tickets get 6th free, total cost £100 (at Christmas £75) allows 2 kill / visit, = 12 fish is boat or bank and is usable 7 days a week, Mr Osprey is doing well this year and we have a Marsh Harrier if that’s the right name, we are not overly busy and that’s how I like it, busy is a nightmare as far as I am concerned, to be honest all is going well, so mild panic what can go wrong, nice to see some of the old regular faces and a bit of sad news Mr Peter Williamson, from Newburgh a real time old fashioned angler, a proper gent, always picking up line and litter, one of the real “Lochmill” anglers a great wee water, died aged 93, Peter always caught fish, always.
Fly Fishing is one of life’s oldest leisure activities, A Pastime, it is not only relaxing, it is rewarding for the mind and soul, come to the “Goldenloch” enjoy your Hobby to the max, no stress, only peaceful surroundings abundant wildlife, great fish, Brown, Blues and Rainbows, you will not be disappointed.
