“Goldenloch”
December-16th– 2019, Week 50
Woke Up this morning to a lot of foxes barking, the recent upsurge in the people ”Public Awareness” has seen a dramatic rise in fox numbers, mostly because in the eyes of the average person foxes are seen as nice animals, this clever creature is a menace and causes so much damage to the wild life, it kills indiscriminately and will kill birds just for fun, why are they here barking, they are standing at the side of the loch barking at the swans, however as I watched I could see one slowly track its way round the loch to where the swans were, as two of them had climbed out the water, this clever fox had decided it was going to get its breakfast, alas it didn’t happen as he was spotted, the gamekeepers no longer seem to rear pheasants or partridges and the gentry shoots are fuelled with birds bought and delivered just before they are shot, so the keepers have no need to keep the fox numbers down, it used to be on a clear night the keepers would be out calling to foxes, and with the use of high powered lights and rifles very quickly an area would see the fox numbers drop by 90% alas these days are past, the fishing just now is pretty difficult, its very cold, raining and a few days howling wind all things that make the fish go deep, recently stocked you would think that the fishing would be relatively easy but its not the case, a filleted trout showed the stomach to be full of snails, shrimp, and pea mussels, there fore plenty grub in the water, people are catching Harold had three on crunchers, Andrew three on small wet flies, Stewart Milne after a long break and promising to behave if I let him back caught one at 3.5lbs, two of my regulars, but not winter anglers are both very unwell just now, but both are improving Anne and I wish you a speedy recovery and we hope you have a Merry Christmas and we will see you when the weather warms.
Fly Fishing is a Pastime, it is not only relaxing, but also rewarding, come to the “Goldenloch” enjoy your Hobby to the max, no stress, only tranquil surroundings abundant wildlife, great fish, Brown, Blues and Rainbows, you will not be disappointed.
