“Goldenloch”
June-10th- 2019, Week 21
Still hard fishing, but its very interesting stuff, morning or early morning is good up till about 8am and then it falls away as the sun brightens up, we have had pretty much great fishing weather all weekend and that’s the exact opposite of what the forecasters predicted, its such a shame that peoples days out are spoilt by the BBC guff, Silver Invictas again has been a great fly to use, it is hard fishing just now, the only places doing well are when they have just restocked so hopefully this week will see a massive difference, The Goldenloch, is a family run, FLY FISHING experience, we nestle in a valley in the beautiful countryside of North East Fife, we first allowed paying guests in 1985, which gives us 33 years experience of looking after anglers of all ages, we ourselves and the fishery have evolved into something special, a unique place that our angling clients can come and relax in proper tranquil surroundings, with no traffic noise, its boat or bank with refurbished wide jetties, they include a back rest/seat, round the loch access again with seating, cut grass allows easy access, the ability to switch between boats and bank is common.
Our fish are the best stock that can be bought, our stocking is regular with rainbow, blues, and brown trout, stocking buy in weight averages at a kilo (2.2Lbs) however there are many larger fish in the water, due mostly to the vast amount of natural feeding which is available all year round, the results are exponential growth and stunning fitness, 2018 brings with it a massive change in our aquaculture management, the diverse plant life in the fishery, will stay untouched, for years we fought to remove this grass and natural pondweeds, now they will be allowed to grow, flourish we know that they are a huge source of insect and fly life Caddis larvae, stonefly, damselfly nymphs, we are positive in this approach and the lily beds which have been a feature here since we first opened will be removed, this will allow a new and as yet unfished area, new pond life is to be established, helping to create new and sustainable aquaculture margins and with that there should encourage these new insects, pond skaters, water boatmen, water beetle.
Fly fishing is a hobby it is one of life’s most rewarding experiences; we try to provide you the perfect place, its all about the environment, you only have to bring yourself, a little bit of patience, our remit in 1985 was “Its for Pleasure” and it still is, whether you are a beginner or a hardened angler coming here to visit should be a happy time.
