“Goldenloch”
February- 24th– 2019, Week 8
OK, again, where do I start, the fishing has been pretty much ace all week, we have had seven days of great weather, catches have been for this time of year, pretty phenomenal, now its not that we are a fishery that pumps in masses of fish, making sure that three days later everyone catches a mega amount of fish, there are loads of lads that will back me up when I say that, but what we have do have is a good steady head of fish in the loch that responds well to feeding, just lately there has been an explosion of fresh water shrimp and Corixa, as well as the copious amounts of snails, larvae and nymphs, so now with the warming weather, it has brought a lot of these fish to life as they have been hibernating all winter, A Drummond 11, S Milne 11, Alan Taylor 5, James Butters 5, B Stewart 8, Dan Peach 8, K Kemp 8,Neil Christie 4, Rod Thaw 12, A Hyndman 7, J Burns 3 G Burns 3 returned 6, Grant McGregor 6, Dougie Baird 4, R Birrel 4, S Gibson 4,B Dewar 9, E Burns 7, so these are all the guys that caught more than 3, there were another 20+ that only caught and killed what they wanted, today was surprising in that we had heavy mist all day, it hung over the loch, a real proper low pressure area, it kind of put the fish down again, the most effected were the bank angers, they struggled a bit and that’s the first time for weeks that the boats have been better than the bank, poor George Murphy and his pals all on the bank found it really hard on Sunday, the water temperature has now risen to 6.5 degrees at 2 feet depth, the 02 level at surface, mostly due to the wind is high, clarity is really excellent with clear visibility at 6 feet.
We successfully planted an area for the bug life at the loch and this year should se e a massive improvement as these trees and bushes will be much larger, also there is plans afoot for more of the same up at the old lodge, its always ongoing and we will strive to get more insects and bugs in and around the loch.
