Goldenloch
November – 12th – Week45-2018
Don’t you just enjoy when there is an opportunity to do the things you want to do, it for some may be gardening, hill walking, cycling, however for lots of people it is fishing, so what is it that most people enjoy, is it being out on your own in a time zone that you control, or is it fishing in a group, club where there is continual banter and giggles, whatever it is, here at the Goldenloch we are trying to give to you the angler an environment that fits your demands, it may not be for everyone, but we are more than happy to listen and adapt to different ideas, this last year we have sown wild flowers to attract more moths, butterflies etc, we have planted a tree area with lots of buddleia ( Strange when you try to grow it is hard, most places it grows wild) its taken root successfully, we also have plans for a relocated lodge with cooking facilities’ and by demand a log stove, our jetties are a major happy place with everyone loving the seats, backrests, the new out flow, now complete only awaits a weed guard, but has triple regulation bio security, so no diploid fish can exit into the natural environment. This year saw a massive hatch of small alevins, that developed into some amazing fishing, tout are predatory and will feed on small fish naturally that’s why lures are so popular, Yellow Dancers and Consett Budgie are both winter flies that imitate the brightly coloured small fish, this is a process that saw a huge range of trout flies developed so as anglers enjoy the catch, winter fishing can be a lot harder, that is noticeable in the ability of some anglers struggling to catch fish just now, but we here are still adamant that snakes are not allowed, the reason being that worms, squiggles, snakes etc, are bait or best copies of bait, bait fishing is not Fly Fishing, The huge success of snakes are a testament to those that have developed it a means to catch fish, and listening or reading about the copious amount of fish that are being caught using them only but tricks the user into thinking that they are an amazing angler, however Fly Fishing is and should always be a hobby a time to relax and catch fish using basically flies that are copies of flies or at least things that look like they can fly, that’s why here at the “Goldenloch” a good days fishing is 8, 9 or 10 fish not 45, 50 or 60 which if that was the case surely Golf must seem like a great idea, hard fishing is good fishing and love it or not finding the right fly, line and technique brings a smile to most faces, smiling this week was Les Gunn 8, Rod Thaw 9, Dan Peach 8, Trev Peach 8, A Cuthbert 4, Les Mitchell 7, Stevie Fyffe 7, Brian Stewart 8, A Morgan 8, John Robertson 11, Brian Dewar 10, Eck Burns 9, being honest these guys all genuinely love fishing and for them it is their metime or pastime whichever you wand to call it, it just has to be a bit challenging.
Fly Fishing is a Pastime, it is not only relaxing, but also rewarding, come to the “Goldenloch” enjoy your Hobby to the max, no stress, only tranquil surroundings abundant wildlife, great fish, Brown, Blues and Rainbows, you will not be disappointed.
