Goldenloch
October – 01st – Week-39-2018
First real cold day of autumn has arrived this morning, not quite below zero, but nearly, from a fisherman’s perspective the water temperature is, or should now be higher now, than the ambient air temperature, so what does this mean, well for a fishery such as the one we have, the fish will be starting to hunt for food, for fat reserves, the insects, crustations, bugs in the water will be slowing down, due to the water temperature dropping, the plankton amoeba life in the water will diminish fast, what will be surviving is bloodworms and little leeches, little snails, shrimps, beetles, more active fishing is or should be better for the next few months for real enthusiasts’ guys that enjoy the getting out in boats or on the bank, being challenged by fish that are looking for grub that they want to eat, guys like Derry Forrest, Coaltown of Wemyss, fishing yesterday, Sunday and telling me he had his best day ever, Stevie Fyffe, 9 all returned, Jim Paton + friend 4 for 16lbs Rod Thaw again having a great day all returned, Allan Hyndman using damsels and shrimp 14 all returned, fishing a yellow dancer and disappointed was Huff and Puff, but seeing others catching loads causes frustration, new angler Neil Christie, having had some great days since taking up the fishing kick, had a not so good day on Monday past with only one fish caught, still enjoying his day though, a rethink of what’s working and perhaps thinner casts my be the way forward, however his buddy Kaptain Kemp had 7 all returned, George Murphy and friends travelling from afar are guys that enjoy their days sport and another day was scored at the weekend, sorry I missed you guys, fishing with us at the “Goldenloch” is all about the day, its enjoying your free time, whether you choose boat or bank you can change from one to the other, we have never been strict on time, but now find that in trying to look forward to next year the pricing will be made even more simple either £15 or £20 tickets, the £15 is a two fish kill plus C&R or C&R all day, the £20 is a three fish kill plus C&R or C&R all day, deals on block buys are good, so speak to me or wait for our Christmas specials, we have had a great season this past year, with some of the best dry fly fishing around by far, other places go for numbers we aim for pleasure and satisfaction, its been quiet at times but for me that’s enjoyable.
