Goldenloch
August 06th-Week-31-2018
Now is traditionally the time that summer droughts hits hardest, the lack of rain and prolonged heat has had a pretty devastating effect on the fish, but since we have just had weeks of blistering heat and massive lack of rain, a wet August would be a blessing, to be honest the rain that has fallen and thank goodness it did, hasn’t improved the level of the loch, we currently are some 9 inches lower than what it should be, we have this year had a higher loss of fish than normal, which is a factor that we build into when stocking, also the young Ospreys are relentless in there attacks on the trout, which are basically just cannon fodder for them, the fish just now have shoaled up and can be found at the far end of the loch, this is pretty normal for trout at this time of year, as they are protecting themselves from predators and are in a shoal looking for a food source, find this and you will have a great day, Rod Thaw and son, Eck and Sandy, best of all Eddie Henderson and Harold had a great day last week, John Bashford Kinross doing a sterling job helping young lads to catch their first ever fish, Colin Hay, using Peter Ross / Hardies Gold, Purple halo Buzzers and Sedge Hogs had probably his best days fishing for a long time Peter Haynes Kirkcaldy back after an op had 4 but lost loads, Gary Reid and Kevin Cook visiting with two others had a tremendous days sport, Craig McFarlane and his girlfriend newbie to fishing caught 1, Peter Linton / Wilson had a fun night 4 kept and 15 returned all on Buzzers Mutch/Halley 8 and 8 returned, the water is clear and there are no weeds other than what we are keeping the minnow population is massive and the fish are just gorging themselves on them however some lads think they have cracked the fishing by using size 22 midge flies, other things happening, new lodge to be in place after putting in new foundations, sounds easy, but not, eventually grass has started to grow on the new and improved access at the side of the loch, all good just takes time.
