May 06th-Week-18-2018
What a real Goofy few days for fishing this past week has been, Sandy Page and Paul Watt having an amazing day on Thursday, which was the second day for Sandy as he had been the day before, on Wednesday and had a ball, some other guys were also having a great time mostly from the bank, small black flies doing the business, Black Buzzers, Diawl Bachs and other small black wet flies, but the Friday came and we saw an extremely busy day, however the fishing just tightened up, mostly due I think that the air was cold starting at about 4 degrees at 8 am, quite a strong west wind, things got better as the day progressed, but generally it was a harder day, and the next day Saturday was very similar with the fighting hard all day, Ian Wallace and Derrie Forrest, having an early start 6am ish, had a great day with numerous fish caught, as did George Murphy and Thomas, they was on the bank at the far end by the old hut and had an amazing day, but others struggled catching only two and threes, Why I have no idea, good anglers, yet the fish were playing really hard to get, all day, John J Hunter and Roger Geary both covering loads of fish managed 5 between them, the evening rise however made up for the crappy day and fish could be seen every where, all over the loch in a flat calm, camping with his young son saw George Murphy having a ball, whilst Thomas set up camp, both commenting that all they could hear all night was fish jumping, plopping back into the water Lol, Brian Dewar and Eck Burns had an early start on Sunday with both doing exceptionally well early doors, again with a full compliment the fishing annoyingly went all hard again, it was however quite a strong changing wind all day and very bright It really made it hard and lads were having to work hard to catch fish, but for those with experience the rewards were there, and that’s what fishing should be like no one said it would be easy, just some places make it so, Sunday evening was interesting the wind disappeared about 8 and the fish eventually came on, nothing like the night before, they just weren’t that interested in much that was being presented, but they were there and anglers could see lots of fish moving about, now its in situations like this that boat anglers are tempted to encroach on bank anglers space, not mentioning any names, a situation arose, with obviously the ensuing polite angling fraternity vocabulary, however thankfully apologies’ were given and accepted and the guilty parties calmed down, the bank fishing this week has definitely out performed the boats, for example P Haynes quietly fishing away while his wife watched from the car at the far end of the loch returned 13 in just a few hours fishing, Peter absolutely praising the fitness and strength of the fish a great night for him.
