Goldenloch
So a few nice days and some cracking fish being caught, lads fishing all had good catches all on basically traditional flies at about 3 feet down, best day so far was I think Thursday, we had a glorious flat calm, the sun was shining, as the day progressed the water warmed a little or perhaps it was the sun getting deep down through the clear water and warming the fish, but by mid day early afternoon the fish could be seen cruising, there bow waves clearly visible in the flat calm water, Robert Anderson, Perth and Jim Pollock, Auchterarder catching on Diawl Bachs and Black and Green vivas had 9 between them, all returned, also out for the day was Mr Hall, with his son, due to go back to school, this being the first opportunity to christen his Christmas present, a brand new rod and reel, was well rewarded with 6 fish all returned, William using his home tied flies however was just a tad disappointed as later in the afternoon ice was forming on his line and eyes of his rod, he couldn’t believe it was happening as there was no ice on the loch, Saturday was a wipe out with horrendous weather early morning so quick phone calls and a nice relaxing day for me was achieved, Sunday saw all the boats out and again it was very slow first thing with no fish showing, remember these are pretty much naturalised fish that do not behave like stockies, and again as the day warmed the fishing just got better and better, with everyone getting fish and happy faces coming of the water, a few bank anglers were a wee tad less happy, but again that was down to the lads on the boats having a lot more experience of fishing here at the Goldenloch, getting a good catch at this time of year is totally different from lets say fishing on a warm summers day, when on a day when the water is warm the fish will be actively swimming about covering large areas looking for grub, on a cold day like yesterday, Sunday, the guys on the boats knew that the fish are pretty inactive and are waiting on something passing quite close to their faces the fish are also not that bothered about eating but some are, skill and knowledge and a lot of practise is what makes it work, it was interesting to watch as the boats all vied for position or perhaps it was just them moving all about the loch.
