Goldenloch
Its been a frustrating week here, with temperatures at night dropping to as low as -7 and then day time temperatures of + 7, every night the ice thickness has increased by a couple of centimetres, during the day rain and melt water has lain on the surface, it is really annoying when people arrive and throw loads of stones on the ice why they do it I can understand is fun, but its also very irritating as if the ice were to get thick enough for skating there is going to be hundreds of frozen sharp stones on the surface, but surprisingly we have been a lot quieter this time with people turning up, there has been the usual guys who are out randomly looking for fishing, some people just don’t understand that without a river running in and out its going to freeze, the swans and ducks have had to flee to Lindores loch for safety as the foxes have saw the opportunity of being able to catch them if they were on top of the ice, at Lindores there are literally hundreds of swans swimming all night, around and around keeping the ice from forming, they have managed to keep an area of a couple of acres free. This cold spell has seen the animals really suffer so any food biscuits etc are well received, However the big bonus is no cormorants these poor birds will be terrorising some other fishery.
