Goldenloch
Aug-28th-Week-36-2017
Weather this last week really was all over the place, making the fishing all over the place as well, up till today a lot of people were being put off fishing here, they said it was the floating weed, which was in most due to five days without any wind, it was however becoming really annoying, in reality it just stopped the guys that can only catch stripping lures, what they missed however, is that fish catches are still amazing, not because anglers were just catching lots of fish, but more in that it was true sport fishing, what I mean by that is that certain types of fly patterns were ultra successful, Bibios and Greenwell’s Glory being good, as was Klinkhammers and a huge range of parachute flies, lads using these flies were just having the best time ever, with neighbouring anglers using a range of lures just not getting the connections, these guys are the ones that want to catch fish in a slightly less sporting manner, proper old fashioned sport fishing is just what we like to see, Fishing at the Goldenloch is more about taking in the surroundings and really enjoying a days fishing, the daily visits of Ospreys is getting a bit more spaced out thank goodness, we allow boat and or bank meaning that you are free to chop and change, the fish quality is outstanding with many telling us that the cooked fish are a gorgeous colour, and the taste is not at all earthy as is usually normal with some trout, was showing some lads the vast quantity of shrimp, snails, bugs etc that is in the weed as it is pulled out “Phenomenal” is a description used, Big Jock, Ballingary, who is a proper Old fashioned angler 7 fish, sedges and dries, Harold Gavin, had had 11 on Bibios and Daddies, Rod Thaw, Kingskettle 7 all returned, John Duncan, all returned, Alan Hyndman, 10 using Claret Shipman’s, Black sedge hog, hoppers, J Bashford & Sandy Drummond using only proper old Loch Leven flies as both were in the past avid Leven anglers had 15 all returned quote, “ Best Fishing Ever” along with everybody else a great week of good solid Fly Fishing, as to the weed well another big pull tomorrow and things should be great for the rest of the year.
