Goldenloch
Aug-16th-Week-34-2017
So I new it was really to good to be true, in taking out all those tons of weed last week, we looked closely at the weed and it was super full of snails shrimps etc, now it has lead to us to having an algal bloom, not that its bothering the fishing much, which is exceptionally good just now, and I don’t really understand why, this has got to have been the poorest year that I can remember for flies not hatching, yet still fish are rising, YES there are evenings when it looks amazing and fish bubbling everywhere, but if you study closer it is snails floating, which is what the do when they want to move, fish are on the surface and if you cast over them you will catch one, Bungs, Blobs, FABs are working as amazing attractors, coupled with bloodworms, nymphs, anglers cant fail, also working well are hoppers, spiders, working really well this year are hackled dries, which is a sure sign that the fish are looking for spidery things, so now is the time to get out the Wickham’s, Pheasant Tails, Clarets and sedge hogs, Guy this morning 11 all returned, using Greenwell’s Glory, and a Bibio Hopper, has partner had 7 he was concentrating on using hares ears and a Klink hammers, 6 lads to come in so don’t know how they got on yet, earlier this week we had a boat with maggots under the floor boards so the boat was removed for washing, then we also discovered a couple of small spinners, why do these guys bother I know who it was and they certainly wont be fishing here again, quite a few calls from people looking for fishing for kids, so I have been sending them to Balmule Fishery, Phone 07776174411, really small kids under 14, they just want to catch a few fish and to go through the process of teaching them to cast it is better for them to go somewhere they can catch fish, so it’s a win for the kids, we still don’t charge for children but I think we will amend this to young adults or teenagers and just anyone under 16 it’s a No, I know this will certainly please our insurance company who insist that under 16s wear goggles, a life jacket whether its boat or bank, they also insist that hooks must be barbless, not crimped but wire barbless, and only one fly on the line. New Jetties are much wider due to requests and are being appreciated.
