Goldenloch
April-30th–Week 18- 2017
No Snow, no rain, no much sun, just volumes and volumes of wind, North East and East, well all that does is really hamper the fishing, I am fed up making excuses to the lads that are not being able to catch fish, so OK, I see and understand that there are places where you just ruck on up, chuck in a line and hey presto a massive nae huge fish just happened to be there, but the last couple of days or week, has been really hard, making it worse is the fact that there are fish rising and breaking the surface, nibbling and generally taking the piss, but everyone must understand “Normal Service will Resume” so lets put in some more fish and at least I can say like all the other places I’ve just stocked, bloody hell, people will soon be able the get a feet pedicure by dipping their toes in the water, Tiger trout, that’s what I need catch one and it will bite your hand off, NAW joking aside, global warming, whatever its called is playing havoc with the fishing, but perseverance is a great virtue, really more importantly going fishing is a stress free, relaxing tranquil, pastime with the sound of water trickling on the sides of the boat, *May* has arrived and with it the opportunity to come and enjoy some Fly Fishing and catch a few fish, so catches this week, well, Neil Caird, Kirkcaldy, using dry flies had 10, yep, see some can do it, Les Cowen 4 all on dry flies, Mark Dobson had 2 on Olive popper hoppers, Don Stewart Glasgow 10 on dry flies and John Grey, Auchtermuchty had 4 again mostly dry flies, Craig Scott to be fair had quite a lot on his mind with his car breaking down and fishing in the hardest blast of wind managed a couple using buzzers, yesterday with the wild weather, father, son and a 4 year old granddaughter all wrapped up including a courtesy lifejacket, now this wee one was a star, I saw her getting lessons from Grandad and then a lovely 3 – 4 blue trout was caught, we have 20+ life jackets that are available at no cost to use as are goggles available as well, for example Perth Probus Angling Club with an average age of about 80, I usually insist that all wear both, David Wilson Kingskettle with his posse had a fleeting bypass catching 1 on a yellow dancer, so all in all its been a no bad week. One angler doing extremely well just now is our unringed Osprey.
