At the Goldenloch this week due to the much cooler evenings we have seen a near normal return to feeding habits for the fish, they have changed back from feeding on the surface during the night, to early morning, midday and evening, giving anglers the rises that they have been missing all season, the abundant source of food is still in the water however, and makes the fish very fussy about what is being offered in an artificial form. Fish are being caught during the day quite readily as Mr and Mrs Stewart from Lanark demonstrated, in bringing his non fishing wife for a days outing, they were armed with a full picnic lunch, spending the day on the loch, Mrs Stewart never having held a rod before caught 4 for 9lbs with 1 at 3lbs all on a gold head hares ear \u201cjust couldn\u2019t have been a better day\u201d she exclaimed, the Brown brothers from Glenrothes on their first ever visit, caught 5 for 8.5lbs returned a few and lost a few, Mr A Hyndman, Muirhead caught 3 for 5lbs using diawl bachs and then switched to dry flies for his last hour in the grey dark and returned 5 more, also fishing dry flies were Mr and Mrs J Evans, from Edinburgh returning from a week salmon fishing up North, they saw our road sign and turned up, both desperate to catch a fish due to the low level water of the salmon beat, they went on to catch 6 for 16lbs and returned 6 including 2 brownies, both were delighted and were happy to go home with some fish for their weeks effort. <\/p>\n
