Well if you don\u2019t have a laugh, sometimes you would just cry, strange things happen at this time of year and its all hype, basically, traditionally this would be the start of the trout fishing season and there is a pretty good reason for that, traditionally fishing lochs closed for the winter, some still do, due to the fact that the fish usually are very hard to catch, being they, the fish, are lying dormant on the loch floor waiting on some warm rays of sunshine to penetrate down, which would coincide with some early fly hatches, and you would get a few fish moving, this year has seen a slower than normal rise in water temperature its now at 6 degrees, last year it was 7.5, that\u2019s not a huge difference to us, but it probably is to the fish, so the upshot is that the fishing just now is difficult or slow to happen, as it takes till late afternoon till it the warmth really kicks in, but for some this is intolerable and grumpiness\u2019 creeps in, some fisheries have a huge amount of fish in them and work a stocking rate of a little but often practise, however that is their business and anglers fishing there regularly have much bigger catches, OK that\u2019s fine, they are also a lot busier, that\u2019s cool as well, but don\u2019t come here in mid March expecting to catch masses of fish, and if you do come fishing, then accept that there are plenty fish, and that its cold and that you have to be a bit better at fishing, or at least have more savvy and understand how to fish at this time of year, this week several anglers have caught reasonably large catches, a few have caught one and twos, traditionally that used to be plenty, for most of the anglers coming here it is, today Sunday everyone that I saw had caught at least one and again some had caught 6 or more yet it was a really cold day and a easterly wind to boot, the forecast is warming so happier days are coming, also for the benefit of any doubt, and it is the opinion of quite a large selection of anglers coming here that the use of snake flies or any type of tandem fly is strictly prohibited as from the 15th of March, this is based on the opinion of 11 out 12 people that their use is not in the spirit of what should be Fly Fishing For Trout a Sport. <\/p>\n
