Not great weather just now, its been bitter cold some days, and blowing a gale others but yesterday, Sunday, was a sort of a freak day, it started absolutely shinny flat calm and with a large bright rising sun giving of a very bright glow, although at near zero there was no ice and with the sun warming the water by 9 we had quite a few rising fish, this lasted till about 10 and was interrupted by a light breeze which blew most of the day, it was very pleasant Sam Angus, Perth arrived about 12 and took to a boat on seeing the rising fish however they proved very hard to catch as they did not seem to be that interested in anything he presented to the water, Sam who although young has a vast experience in fly fishing being taught mostly by a very successful uncle, commented that the fish were plenty in numbers and movement just not for catching, he had a while on the bank but still found it tricky, however about 5pm the whole thing changed again and there were fish aplenty just like the day before when the fishing was just a dawdle, two gents getting 6 each and Miss Gillian Paterson, Kent fishing with her father had 4, 3 caught on red buzzers and the 4th with a dark brown dry fly, her dad getting 2 both on dries and him using his dads old cane rod which was last used on Rutland in the 1970, \u201c Well Chuffed\u201d was his comments, the water is amazingly clear just now and the levels are at maximum, Peter my retired entomologist friend visited last week and after a few hours hanging over the side of a boat, declared that the water is positively bursting with crustaceans and that the fish should have masses to eat and do well this winter, a very positive move from the summers weed problem, which has well and truly gone now.<\/p>\n
