{"id":1511,"date":"2019-05-05T16:55:01","date_gmt":"2019-05-05T16:55:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/goldenloch.co.uk\/?p=1511"},"modified":"2019-05-05T16:55:01","modified_gmt":"2019-05-05T16:55:01","slug":"sticklebacks-are-back","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/goldenloch.co.uk\/index.php\/2019\/05\/05\/sticklebacks-are-back\/","title":{"rendered":"Sticklebacks are back"},"content":{"rendered":"<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td colspan=\"4\" width=\"569\"><strong>Goldenloch Fishing Report 2019<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td colspan=\"2\" width=\"290\">email:john@john-nicol.co.uk<\/td>\n<td colspan=\"2\" width=\"278\">Phone; 01337840355,07968006367<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"189\">Secchi- 6 feet<\/td>\n<td colspan=\"2\" width=\"190\">Temperature\u00a0 14 Degrees<\/td>\n<td width=\"190\">Oxygen &#8211; High<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"189\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"101\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"89\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"190\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGoldenloch\u201d<\/p>\n<p>May-05<sup>th <\/sup>&#8211; 2019, Week 16<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The weather has changed dramatically, again, its now becoming more depressing, just as we were all hoping things would warm up, making the fish energetic, yesterday Saturday 4<sup>th<\/sup> May was really cold, the fishing has suddenly become much harder, however in reading other fishery reports and Fb pages it would seem that some places do not \u00a0suffer the above as much as we do, it could also be the case that some of these places have extraordinary high stocking rates, relative to the area of water, with one fishery even reporting as having stocked 50 large fish, all this in the first week of May, here at \u201cThe Goldenloch\u201d things are as we would have expected with this sudden cold front that has moved in, what has happened is that the fish have moved to be a bit lower in the water, the surface water temperature is now at 14 degrees which is pretty much normal for this time of year, most anglers however have caught fish with only the odd exception, Neil Christie, a lad that is now retired and last year took up Fly Fishing, has had a few lessons and a fair bit of practise, his fishing skills are improving, but when the conditions are tough he struggles, like many as he lacks experience, yet some days he can have a great day, what he needs is more practise and some new skills in dealing with adverse conditions, now given that Neil has gone to some of these big fish fisheries, with the hope of catching one of those huge fish, unfortunately to date this has still to happen, however he recognises that he still has this skill shortage, not much but enough, the great thing is that, Neil wants to catch fish on proper conventional flies, preferably on flies that he has tied himself, what he doesn\u2019t realise is that he has in 9 months achieved a level that some people have taken take years to perfect, a level that some people that swing onto fishing with boobies, mops, snakes, wotsits will never ever get too, fishing for them is just as much as they can catch in as short a time as possible. Back this year are the stickle backs and Brown trout Alvin\u2019s, a huge amount of fun was had by anglers as they tried hard to catch the trout as they fed on these wee fishes that darted to and fro up at the far end of the loch, stickle backs have an amazing history that predates man they can be found in nearly every water there is and trout love them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Fly Fishing is a <strong><u>Pastime<\/u><\/strong>, it is not only relaxing, but also rewarding, come to the \u201cGoldenloch\u201d enjoy your <strong><u>Hobby<\/u><\/strong> to the max, no stress, only tranquil surroundings abundant wildlife, great fish, Brown, Blues and Rainbows, you will not be disappointed.
